The Fort Worth ISD will conduct a groundbreaking for Overton Park Elementary School on Thursday, June 6 at 10 a.m. The ceremony will be held at the new site at the corner of Briarhaven and Kingsridge roads. Presentations will be held under a tent by the Congregation Ahavath Sholom parking lot, and the groundbreaking itself will be on the school site a few feet away. This event will include revealing the new school mascot and school colors, which were the result of collaboration of a team of students, parents and administrators.
The new facility will sit on 5.98 acres that were once part of the historic Edwards Ranch. The school will serve pre-kindergarten through fifth grade and can accommodate 550 students.
Several Tanglewood Elementary students will attend the groundbreaking, as they will be Overton Park campus leaders when the school opens in August 2020.
Overton Park Elementary School will accommodate four classrooms per grade for pre-kindergarten through fifth grade and will include spaces for physical education, music, science, art and more.
The construction budget is comprised of Capital Improvement Funds approved by voters in 2017.
